Xasarde Droma (Lost Roads)
On 5th January 2014, the movie “Xasarde Droma (Lost Roads)”, made by Aude-Léa Rapin and Adrien Selbert was shown in Saint-Denis, north of Paris, at the alternative cultural centre 6B. The movie, which shows the history of a group of Rroms since their installation in a shanty-town until their eviction, as well as their fight for their rights, was followed by a debate with the public, some 80 people of different ages and environments.
This event was organized jointly by La voix des Rroms, Rromeurope and CAPAB (Antifascist Collective Paris and Suburbs). During the discussion with the organizers, the participants showed interest in knowing more about the situation of these migrants and on the ways to support their fight for Human Rights. Even though since 1st January 2014 the Romanian and Bulgarian immigrants have the right to work in whole EU, France’s policy still remains too hard towards Rromani people from these countries. This event is therefore very important as it boosts solidarity with French citizens and other citizen movements.
