Walk in the shoes of an 18 years Roma girl who never went to town alone.
I have a dream that one day, young roma Albanian girls, will be judged by the content of their character, not only by the skin of their color and the beuty of their face. My name is Besjona Hadroj, I will be 18 in just a few weeks. I was born in a Roma family from two Roma parents.I have no facebook, no social media and no android phone. If you ask me where is the town center, I will not be able to tell you because I was grown up in a traditional Roma family where the women have to stay home cook and clean.
My mother was married to my father for 20 years, but she never went out of the main house door alone, even to the shops down street. My school is just 300 meter far from my house, my father or my grandmother takes me to school and picks me up everyday. I have no friends at all, and I was not allow to enjoy my childhood in the way I should have done.
How do I spend my free time, how and who helped me to be one of the best student at school, I would love to tell you in details. This will be the first time i leave home, because I am 18 now, and my father said if I get to win this competition he will allow me to share the continuity of my story, how we saved the Roma traditional behavior, way of living for 18 years of my life, in the capital of Albania, where civilization and integration of Roma has run faster then the plane does.
For 18 years I build a dream that one day, I will be a teacher, and a mother of girls who can live their childhood, with education and civilization at the same time.Because the only difference we have from albanian majority is just a strictk culture, and a different skin colour
