In Mediterranean Region ,in Turkey; Roma Associations came together and they established an art and etude house for children thanks to Mediterranean Roman Associations Federation.
There were a lot of proplems about attendance to school of Roma children, they were not able to even read although they passed upper classes, leaving from school rates are so high…
Some Public bodies which are Governance of Mersin, Toroslar Municipality, National Education headship and Public Education Headship contributed to the project.
After a long preparation term; they started to work with children who are between 7-13 years old in the center; if the children goes to school afternoon, they come to the center in the morning and the volunteer teachers give support about their lessons which are they fail. The other group which go to school in the morning they come to center afternoon. Also thanks to Mersin Governance children have lunch before going school and afternoon group have meal before leaving the center.
In short time the project was appropriated by NGOs , governance and municipalities.
Up to now ; in total 14 teachers studied with 220 students and positive changes about their development process were seen.
