Contest 2012: Learning opens borders
Community based learning is teaching not only new skills to students who are adults but also opens new roads to interests, building better neighbourhoods, reducing crime rate, providing good examples for children, informing one and other about our roots, maintaining our own cultures as well as free advertisement to our own country. I led a community ESOL class with 20 adults from all over the world. By the end of the course they not only improved their English but we all became friends. We learnt to respect each other cultures, religions and behaviour. Our kids became friends over the Christmas dinner we organised where everyone cooked something from their own country. I have been invited to Jordan and other parts of the world. This should be an initiative across Europe not just the UK
